Regeneration

The regeneration process consists of several phases

1

STONE CONDITION ASSESSMENT

In this phase two in situ essays are carried out to measure the current stone deterioration relating to the colour and hardness of the stone:

  • Colorimetry or colour spectrophotometry: Quantitative measurements of colour through the radio spectrum which quantitatively determines the visual appearance of the stone.
  • Peeling or Scotch tape: this method consists of the percentage measurement of the amount of detached material after applying standard adhesive tape.

4

PRODUCT APPLICATION

The product is applied through gun spraying twice a day. The period of the treatment application is 7 days depending on the deterioration condition of the stone and the environmental conditions. The product is applied by our experienced staff under the strictest conditions of safety and quality, in that way, we can optimise the product performance and the regeneration and consolidation of the stone.

2

BUBBLE-WRAPPED

In this phase, we proceed to bubble-wrapped the building in full, or, failing that, we just bubble–wrapped the area where the product is going to be applied with the aim of keeping the recommended humidity and temperature conditions in order to apply the product correctly, as well as to avoid solar radiation.

If the atmospheric conditions are not extreme, the area to be treated can be protected with a simple raffia mesh.

5

TRACKING OF THE TREATMENT

When the application of the product is finished, it must be kept bubble-wrapped for, at least, 7 days with the aim of keeping the suitable humidity and temperature for the drying. With the tracking of the treatment we can prolong the effectiveness of the product.

3

SURFACE CLEANING

Kbyo Biological in collaboration with Chemical Advanced have developed a line of cleaning products for heritage that guarantees excellent results without damaging the heritage and the microbial flora living inside the stone.

6

ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS
We carry out again the two essays which were conducted in the first phase of the regeneration process with the aim of assessing and demonstrating the effectiveness of the product once applied:

  • Colorimetry or colour spectrophotometry: determines quantitatively the visual impact of the treatment once the product has been applied
  • Peeling o Scotch tape: this method consists of the percentage measurement of the amount of detached material after applying the product, compared with the measurement carried out before the restoration to verify the regeneration and resistance of the treated stone.
